Quality in research

The EcoSys joint research unit is committed to a Quality approach based on the process approach, the implementation of which is broken down into requirements in the INRAE Referential (2013). The main aim of this approach is to harmonize the unit's overall organization, ensure the traceability of research work and guarantee the reliability of results, in a continuous progression of improving practices, processes and methods for maximum satisfaction of the various stakeholders (partners, collaborators, customers, researchers, engineers, technicians, post-docs, PhD students, interns, fixed-term contracts, etc.).

All the unit's staff, permanent and non-permanent, are involved in this approach, and are thus committed to participating collectively in improving the system.

In order to implement this approach, the EcoSys Quality Unit, represented by UMR management and the Quality referents, draws up an action plan which is regularly reviewed and revised each year in the light of achievements. A general orientation document sets out the objectives assigned to the Quality unit, and the main lines of work for the various areas of application of the quality approach.

The domains

The quality approach concerns all the unit's activities and applies to the following processes:

• Conducting research
• Managing human resources
• Managing equipment (metrology) and the working environment

• Management of consumables and reagents
• Document management
• Continuous improvement (indicators, evaluations, audits, etc.)
• Data management for simple and comprehensible re-use (according to the FAIR principles - Feasible, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable)
